Obituary for Harold H Chamberlain

H. HAROLD CHAMBERLAIN JR CANFIELD - Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Lane Funeral Home, Canfield Chapel for H. Harold Chamberlain Jr., 89, who died Monday at the Veterans Medical Center in Durham, N.C. Harold was born Sept. 9, 1921, in Youngstown and was the son of the late Herman H. Sr. and Martha (Price) Chamberlain. He retired in 1982 from Conrail Railroad, where he had been a conductor and had previously worked as a brick mason through the bricklayers union. Harold was a member of St. Michaels Church in Canfield, had served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, was a member of the Maennerchor Club in Youngstown and a former member of the Saxon Club. Harold enjoyed working with stain glass and enjoyed gardening. His wife, the former Jean E. Donaldson, whom he married July 10, 1948, died Dec. 2, 1999. He leaves two sons, Dr. Dennis R. Chamberlain of Barnsville, Ga. and Dale R. (Sally) Chamberlain of Raleigh, N.C.; a brother, James (Lois) Chamberlain of Columbus; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a daughter, Denise Braun; a sister, Martha Jean Moore; and a brother, Donald Chamberlain. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday. The family requests that material contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
