Obituary for Darlene A Proffit

EUGENE A. 'GENE' PROFFIT SR BOARDMAN – There will be services at 1 p.m. Tuesday at First Covenant Church for Eugene A. “Gene” Profit Sr., 63, who died Wednesday evening at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center. He was born March 7, 1947, in Youngstown, a son of Theodore R. and Pauline P. Peterson Proffit. Gene was a 1966 graduate of South High School. He was employed by Pacek & Becker Auto Parts for 22 years and then Industrial Engine Co. and retired as a correctional officer with Community Corrections. He was also with the Youngstown Police Auxiliary for many years. Gene was a member of First Covenant Church and also of the NRA. He enjoyed classic cars and watching Westerns and loved to travel, especially to Tennessee to visit his cousins. He is survived by his wife, the former Darlene M. Schnarrs (Elko), whom he married Jan. 20, 2002; his son, Chip Proffit of Boardman; his daughters, Erika L. Proffit of Youngstown and Brynn L. (Eric) Boyce of Masury; and his granddaughter Elaine F. Boyce. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Anstrom-Velker Funeral Home, 75 E. Midlothian Blvd., and from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, material contributions may be donated to the family toward the funeral.
