Obituary for Stephen Sr. Bator
Stephen J. Bator Sr.
GIRARD – Stephen J. Bator Sr., 87, died Friday, Nov. 13, at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.
He was born June 25, 1922, in Kluknava, Slovaka, the son of the late Stephen and Anna (Halko) Bator
. He served in the CCC and was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy. He worked for 18 years at Truscon Steel and another 18 years at Republic Steel.
He was a member of St. Rose Church and was active in their senior choir and senior citizens group. He was also a member of the Girard Senior Citizens and the Catholic War Veterans Post 1292 in Youngstown.
He is survived by his wife, Marian (Denmeade) Bator, whom he married Sept. 13, 1947; a brother, Frank Bator of Poland; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Stephen J. Bator Jr. and five sisters, Ann Durkin, Marge Gavalier, Helen, Mary, and Sofie Bator.
A funeral service will be held at the McClurkin Funeral Home in Girard on Monday at 1:30 p.m. with calling hours an hour before. Interment will be at Green Haven Memorial Garden in Canfield.
