Obituary for Mary Kohut

MARY F. KOHUT AUSTINTOWN – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 29, 2011, at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, for Mary Frances Kohut, 80, who passed away Sunday afternoon, July 24, 2011, at Valley Care Northside Medical Center with her family by her side. Mary was born June 27, 1931, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late John P. and Mary Check Susa, and was a lifelong area resident. She was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, worked at Pepsi Cola and L&K Restaurant, and later dedicated her adult life to raising and caring for her family with all her heart. Mrs. Kohut currently attended Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Austintown, and was a former member of Sts. Cyril & Methodius Church in Youngstown and St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church in Austintown. She was active in SOAR, was involved in the CCC with her husband, and enjoyed polka dancing with her family and many dear friends. Mary leaves her husband of nearly 60 years, John Kohut, whom she married Oct. 6, 1951; a son, John Michael (Eva Cwynar-Kohut) Kohut of Los Angeles; two daughters, Mary Lynn (Ernie) Yacovone of Austintown and Barbara Ann (Robert) Kennedy of Coto De Caza, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Kristy Kennedy (Josh Forgione), Julie Kennedy, Cara Yacovone, Alyssa Yacovone, Trevor Yacovone, Danielle Kohut, and Nicole Kohut; and a brother, Albert Susa of Youngstown. An infant son, John Kohut, Jr., and two sisters, Margie Mihalik and Helen Trepac, are deceased. Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 28, and on Friday from 9 to 9:30 a.m. at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown. Interment will take place at Green Haven Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Kohut’s family extends their sincere appreciation to the staff of Valley Care Northside Medical Center, for the kindness shown and care given to Mary during her illness.
