Obituary for Maja E Gaia

Maja E. Gaia SOUTHINGTON – A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Friday at the Sacred Heart Church in Youngstown, preceded by closing prayers at 9:15 a.m. at the Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel, for Maja E. Gaia, 75, who passed away Monday at St. Joseph Medical Center. Maja was born Sept. 11, 1934, in Schweinfurt, Germany, a daughter of the late Johann P. and Elisabeth (Firsching) Fuchs. A homemaker, Maja came to the United States in 1954. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Church. She loved gardening, and enjoyed bowling and bingo. In high school, she ran track. Most of all, Maja loved her great-grandchildren and loved spending time with them. She will be sadly missed by her three children, Johnny R. (Millie) Gaia of Girard, Rosemarie (Robert) Kiraly of Youngstown and Jacqueline (Barry) Cupp of Tennessee; three sisters; five brothers; eight grandchildren, Johnny Gaia, Elizabeth Regale, Jamie Gaia, Tony Cuevas, Edwin Cuevas, William Caracanas, Steven Caracanas and Christopher Kiraly; and 27 great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, Maja was preceded in death by three brothers, two brothers-in-law, one sister-in-law; and a great-granddaughter. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel.
