Obituary for Carole M Brown

Carole M. Brown AUSTINTOWN – Carole M. Brown, 69, a lifetime resident of Austintown, passed away at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29, 2010, at Hospice House in Poland. Carole was born May 24, 1940, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Charles W. and Marie C. (Baker) Brown Sr. Carole was a 1958 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School. She worked in the first Heart Lab at St. Elizabeth Hospital as a surgical technician. She also worked for many years for Drs. Murry and Dietz, and Dr. YT Chiu. She retired from The Tamarkin Company. Listed as a Master Ethnic Beader with the Ohio Arts Council, she was known and admired for her outstanding beadwork. She was an avid crafter who participated annually in the Christmas at the Old Mill Craft Show, the Butler Institute Holiday Craft Show as well as many area craft shows and Native American Pow Wows. She won several blue ribbons at the Canfield Fair for her beadwork and cross-stitch. She was a member of the Women's Auxiliary of the American Legion Austintown Memorial Post 301. Carole was also a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Austintown. Carole leaves behind a brother, Thomas (Veronica) Brown; sister Kathleen Bowman; sister-in-law Karen (Steve) Ruberto; nieces and nephews Shawne (Charles) Wilfong, with whom she made her home, Robert (Marijane) Bowman, Heather (Jim) Kunka, Chad (Cherish) Bowman, Denielle Brown and Amanda (Mike) Roby, as well as many great-nieces and great-nephews. Besides her parents, Carole was preceded in death by a brother, 2nd Lt. Charles W. Brown Jr. Calling hours will take place Monday, Feb. 1, 2010, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel, where a funeral service will take place at 7 p.m. Monday. The family suggests that memorial contributions take the form of donations in Carole’s name to Angel Carriers, 5095 Market St., Youngstown, OH, 44512.
