Obituary for Ralph E Redfern

RALPH E. REDFERN YOUNGSTOWN – Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Mahoning United Methodist Church for Ralph E. Redfern, 65, of Austintown who passed away Thursday morning after a courageous battle with colorectal cancer. Ralph was born July 12, 1945, in Youngstown, the son of Francis and Winifred (Niven) Redfern. He was a 1963 graduate of Chaney High School and attended Youngstown State University Dana School of Music before serving in the U.S. Army. Ralph worked at the Mahoning United Methodist Church in the maintenance department and had worked in maintenance at the First United Methodist Church in Warren. Prior to working at the churches, Ralph worked in sales. He was a Musician, member of the Sulgrave Lodge of the Masons for 35 years, and a former member of the Musicians Union. Ralph was also very active within his church and served in various positions in the church. He leaves his wife, the former Diane Klacik, whom he married March 31, 1984; four children, Danielle (Rich) Feezle of Austintown, Rhonda (Bob) Armes of Youngstown, Ian (Becci Parsons) Redfern of Austintown and Sean (Roseanna) Redfern of Westlake; six grandchildren, Lauren, Victoria, Ryan, Darrin, Addison and Lillian; and three brothers, David (Nancy) Redfern of Skandia, Mich., Bruce Redfern of Akron and Roy (Theresa) Redfern of Newport News, Va. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel and again from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the church, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Donations can be made to the church in Ralph’s name.
