Obituary for Clarence H Johnson

CLARENCE HENRY JOHNSON “Together Again” AUSTINTOWN – Clarence Henry Johnson, 87, died Saturday at St. Elizabeth’s Health Center. Born Aug. 31, 1924, in West Newton, Pa., he was the son of Charles and Hanah (Beckstrom aka Backstrom) Johnson. Mr. Johnson graduated from West Newton High School in Pennsylvania, served in the Army Air Corp, and retired in 1978 after 30 years of service for the Youngstown Northern Railroad. He also worked for Modern Window and Awning for 30 years, and was a member of the Austintown Community Church. He was also an avid fisherman and enjoyed fishing along with his wife. Survivors include his son, Jim (Deborah) Johnson of Austintown; granddaughter, Jamie Lea Johnson; and great-grandchildren, Zoe and Jesse. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 61 years, Alverda (Soverns), who died on Jan. 15, 2005; and two brothers, Harold and Norman. Friends will be received at the Lane Family Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m., where funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Burial will take place at the Green Haven Memorial Park.
