Obituary for Helen K. Merryman

HELEN K. MERRYMAN AUSTINTOWN – Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Lane Funeral Home, Canfield Chapel for Helen K. Merryman, 87, who passed away Friday morning at Hospice House after a short illness. Helen was born Jan. 16, 1923, in New Kensington Pa., the daughter of Ralph and Margaret E. (Loft) Morrow. She retired as a dental assistant after many years of service. Helen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a member of the Austintown Community Church, the Friendship Circle at the church, and the Miriam Chapter No. 278 of the Eastern Star. Helen enjoyed sewing and gardening, but most of all she loved the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her husband W. Deane Merryman whom she married Sept. 13, 1946, passed away Oct. 28, 1989. Helen leaves three children, Deane (Patty) Merryman of Walsenburg, Colo., Patrick D. (Diane) Merryman of Triangle, Va., and Rebecca K. (Frank) Rook of Boardman; six grandchildren, Sarah, Hannah, William, Patrick Jr., Melissa, and Amy; four great-grandchildren, James, Imani, Ethan and Katherine; as well as one sister, Marian Yates of New Kensington Pa. Besides her parents and husband, Helen was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Alvin Morrow. Family and friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday and again from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice House in Helen’s name.
