Obituary for Glenn E Day

GLENN E. DAY POLAND - Glenn E. Day, 82, died Dec. 17, 2010, at the Hospice House. Glenn was born May 25, 1928, in Aaronsburg, Pa., a son of the late Leroy and Florence Kramer Day. He came to the Youngstown area in 1948. Glenn was employed by the former Averbeck Wholesale Drug, later called Ketchum Distributors, and was in charge of the receiving department for 33 years, retiring in 1982. He was a current member of Kingdom Community Church. Glenn was a former member of Prince of Peace Church in Poland, where he served as their custodian for over 40 years. An outdoorsman, Glenn was a member of the East Palestine Sportsmen’s Club and enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He leaves his wife, the former Mary L. Sitler, whom he married Nov. 18, 1950; two daughters, Marilyn (Andrew) Hredzak of Canfield and Janice (Scot) Gherardi of Austintown; two sons, Gary (Jolane) Day of New Waterford and Kenneth (Heidi Ferrario) Day of East Palestine; two brothers, Eugene (Dixie) Day of Woodbridge, Va. and Larry Day of Spring Mills, Pa.; three grandchildren, Julie Day of New Waterford, Geri Day of Hilliard and Jacob Gherardi of Austintown; and one great-grandchild, Alexis Smith of New Waterford. Services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland with Pastor Rusty Wills officiating. Interment will follow at Green Haven Memorial Gardens in Canfield. Family and friends will be received Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home. The family requests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions in Mr. Day’s name to Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Road, Poland, OH 44514.
