Obituary for James Platt

JAMES R. PLATT CANFIELD – Friends may call Tuesday from 5 to 7:45 p.m. with funeral services following at 8 p.m. for James R. Platt, 73, who died peacefully at his home Saturday afternoon. James was born April 30, 1938, in Pittsburgh, the son of Russell and Anna Marie O’Hara Platt. He had served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War and later worked as a truck driver for A.B.F. Trucking, retiring after over 30 years of service as a foreman. He was a member of the Teamsters and the V.F.W. His wife, the former Genevieve Collet, whom he married Sept. 14, 1959, died March 2, 2007. He is survived by four daughters, Genevieve (Daniel) Honiker of Oklahoma City, Margaret Wardle of Dallas, Joyce Stockdale of Canfield and Linda Dunn of Youngstown; six grandchildren, Theresa Houston, Ronald Dunn Jr., Crystal Wardle, Douglas Stockdale, Courtney Wardle and Starr Patrick; one great-granddaughter, Genevieve Houston; and nieces and nephews, whom he helped raise, Anna Marie, Mary, Jack, Lawrence, Frederick, and Christopher Collet.
