Memorial for Mary Ellen McCutcheon Born in Poland, OH on Apr. 28, 1918 Departed on Feb. 19, 2010 and resided in Salem, OH. Visitation: Monday, Feb. 22, 2010 Service: Monday, Feb. 22, 2010 Funeral services will be held 6 PM Monday at the Lane Funeral Home Canfield for Mary Ellen McCutcheon, who passed away Friday February 19, 2010 at Salem Community Hospital. She was born April 28, 1918 in Poland, OH, a daughter of the late Michael and Nettie (Cessinger) Knafels. She retired in 1982 from General Motors as a welder and previously had worked for Packard Electric, for US Steel in the executive dining room for 17 ½ years, and as a crane operator at Sheet and Tube during World War II. Mary Ellen's husband, Raymond P. McCutcheon, a decorated WWII Veteran, whom she married October 29, 1956, passed away September 7, 2000. She is survived by her son Michael H. Traveline of Midlothian, VA; three grandchildren: Joan M. Owen, Dana Cox, Michael D. Traveline; nine great grandchildren: Lauren, Tyler, Erica, Hillary, Claire, Rachel, Emily, Sarah, and Jacob; and a special friend and caregiver April Riggs. Besides her husband and parents, Mary Ellen is preceded in death by one brother Michael, and one sister Nettie. She was known to others form being charitable even when in need herself. It was her personal mission to give her time and talents caring for family and friends. Friends may call from 5 PM until 6 PM Monday at the Lane Funeral Home Canfield Chapel prior to the services.
