Obituary for Carmela Lalama

Carmela LaLama “Together Forever” BOARDMAN – There will be services at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday at the Anstrom-Velker Funeral Home, 75 E. Midlothian Blvd. and at 1 p.m. at St. Dominic Church for Carmela LaLama, 87, who died Monday morning at Beeghly Oaks. She was born May 6, 1922 in Acciano Providence DiAquila, Italy, a daughter of Sabatino and Elizabetta Spallacci Berardi. Carmela was a homemaker and a member of St. Dominic Church. She was an avid flower and vegetable gardener and enjoyed cooking and baking. Her husband, Filippo LaLama, whom she married March 24, 1950, died May 14, 1989. Mrs. LaLama is survived by her sons, Nino (Michelle) LaLama of Youngstown and Frank (Brenda) LaLama of Key West, Fla.; and four grandchildren, Phillip LaLama, Kathy (Eric) Grunenwald, William LaLama and Robert Tolley. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Anselmo Berardi. Friends may call from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. The LaLama family would like to thank the staff at Hospice of the Valley and Beeghly Oaks for their compassionate care and concern for Carmela.
