Obituary for Vernon J Gaier
MARIANNA ANGELA GAIER
COLUMBIANA – A memorial will be held this Saturday, June 18, at 2 p.m. at the Disciples Christian Church, 565 Boardman Canfield Road, Boardman, for Marianna Angela Gaier, 84. Marianna was lovingly cared for and passed peacefully Saturday, June 11, at Windsor House at Parkside in Columbiana.
Marianna was born April 4, 1927, in Sidney, the daughter of Anthony and Francis Crown.
She graduated from Sidney High School in 1945.
She was married on Thanksgiving Day 1946 to her husband, Vernon “Bud” Gaier, whom she shared the next 65 years with. They made their home in Canfield for 45 years and the last 10 in Columbiana.
Marianna loved to travel and among other places, visited Australia, China, England, Alaska, and Hawaii making numerous friends around the world. She and Bud were avid dancers and she loved Polka music as well.
She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Bud Gaier of Columbiana; three children, David Gaier of Sebastopol, Calif., Diane (Arthur) Tryon of Santa Fe, N.M. and Douglas (Donna) Gaier of Canfield; two sisters, Marcella Huecker and Marylyn Behr; four grandchildren; and one great-grandson. She will be fondly remembered by many others.
Friends may call Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. at the church prior to the memorial.
