Obituary for Barbara Reed

BARBARA JEAN STREDRICK REED YOUNGSTOWN – Mrs. Barbara Jean Stredrick Reed entered eternal rest on Friday, May 5, 2011, at the Cleveland Clinic. Barbara was born Nov. 30, 1938, in Akron, to Eugene and Maggie Henderson Stredrick. She was a 1957 graduate of The Rayen School. She was employed by Metal Carbides Corporation for 26 years as a machine operator, retiring in 1994. Barbara was a member of the Mt. Calvary Pentecostal Church, where she served on the Mothers Board, Guest Services, Altar Evangelism, Culinary Department, and the Usher Board and was a member of the NAACP. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, John A. Reed, whom she married March of 1993; two daughters, Karyn A. (Craig) Scott of Cranberry Township, Pa. and Karla M. (L. Craig) Randall of Canfield; one son, Willie Williams III of Youngstown; one sister, Mildred Skipper of Niagara Falls, N.Y.; three granddaughters; seven grandsons; and one great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Sylvia Carson; and five brothers, Chester and Lester Carson, Frank, Eugene and Billy Stredrick. Friends may call Tuesday, May 10, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the L.E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home. Services will be on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Mt. Calvary Pentecostal Church.
