Obituary for Bessie W Burt

BESSIE W. BURT YOUNGSTOWN – Services will be Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010, at 10 a.m. at the Berean Fellowship Church, 1321 Lansdowne Blvd., for Mrs. Bessie W. Burt, 76, who went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, Nov. 28, 2010, surrounded by her loving family at her home. Mrs. Burt was born July 19, 1934, in Coosa County, Ala., a daughter of Archie and Annie Lee Goggans Leonard. She joined the Peace and Goodwill Baptist Church at an early age. A member of the Berean Fellowship Church, Bessie served as a Sunday School Teacher and was a devoted volunteer with the church’s food bank. She worked at Sleigh Bell Nursing Home for over 24 years, retiring in 1993. Her husband, David Jr., whom she married Feb. 17, 1952, entered eternal peace Nov. 16, 2009. Bessie, a true servant of the Lord, leaves to rejoice in her homegoing and to cherish her beloved memory, seven children, Brenda (Robert) McElroy, Maldene Burt and Larry Burt, all of Youngstown, Mary Carter, Terry W. (Mary Lynn) Burt and David Burt of Orlando, Fla. and Darlene (Rev. Kenneth) March of Grandview, Mo.; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Eloise (Lee T.) McKinney of Fayetteville, N.C. and Bobbie Wyckoff of Atlanta; a brother, Lee N. (Amanda) Leonard of Milwaukee, Wis.; best friend and sister-in-law, Lessie Burt; and a host of family and friends. Friends may call Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the church.
