Obituary for George W Holt

George Wesley Holt YOUNGSTOWN – Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel for George Wesley Holt, 85, who passed away Monday morning at Hospice House, surrounded by his family. George was born Aug. 1, 1924, in Youngstown, the son of Samuel J. and Madeline P. (Palmer) Holt. He was a lifelong area resident and had worked as a maintenance mechanic with Alcan Aluminum for 20 years, until his retirement in 1985. He was a member of the Mahoning United Methodist Church, a member of the auxiliary police for the City of Youngstown, a former member of the C.B. Club, and also was an avid bowler in many leagues and tournaments. George also enjoyed four wheeling and fishing. His wife, the former Helen M. Hughes, whom he married Aug. 11, 1945, passed away Feb. 19, 2008. George leaves two daughters, Bonnie J. (Thomas) Evans of Canfield and Barbara A. (Alfred) Passarelli of Austintown; one daughter-in-law, Sue Holt of Toledo; five grandchildren, Genene Kelty, Mark Holt, Scott Evans, Jessica DeVito and Sandra Cline; as well as nine great-grandchildren. Besides his parents and wife, George was preceded in death by one son, Jack H. Holt; one granddaughter, Tracey Evans; one sister, Elizabeth Holt; and one brother, Richard F. Holt. Family and friends may call form noon until the time of the services at the funeral home.
