Obituary for Joanne Schneider

JOANNE SCHNEIDER POLAND – A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2011, at St. Christine Church for JoAnne Schneider, 71, who passed away Saturday at Hampton Woods Care Center. JoAnne was born June 19, 1939, in Youngstown, the daughter of Angelo and Gladys (Scoville) DeCapua. She was a graduate of The Rayen School class of 1957 and worked as a clerk with the Youngstown Water Department, retiring after 25 years of service. JoAnne was a former Miss Y-Teen, a member of St. Brendan Church, a former member of the Chaney Grid-Iron and a member of Austinwoods Arthritic Swim Class. She also enjoyed playing bunko and belonged to card clubs with her friends. JoAnne also loved reading, swimming, cooking and being with her grandchildren. She was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. She leaves three children, Linda (Scott) Williams of Rome N.Y. and PJ Leskosky and Richard (Dawn) Schneider, both of Canfield; a brother, James (Theresa) DeCapua of Ellenton Fla.; a sister, Janice LaLama of Poland; a sister-in-law, Teresa DeCapua of Boardman; and seven grandchildren, Nicole, Lauren and Adam Williams, Michael and Brittany Leskosky, Halle and Jacob Schneider. Besides her parents, JoAnne was preceded in death by a brother, Angelo DeCapua; a sister, Doris Jean Catheline; and a brother-in-law, Sam LaLama. Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Lane Funeral Home, Canfield Chapel where closing prayers will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday morning. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Hampton Woods for all the love, care and support given to JoAnne and her family during her stay.
