Obituary for John A Buffa

JOHN A. BUFFA BOARDMAN – Prayers will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Fox Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by the Rev. Joseph A. Fata at 9:30 a.m. at St. Luke Church for John A. Buffa, 74, who passed away Tuesday morning. He fought a courageous battle with brain cancer. John was born March 30, 1936, in Franklin Township, Pa., a son of John Paul and Sophia Catherine Supro Buffa. He was a graduate of Uniontown High School and worked as the produce manager for A& P and retired in 2001 from the Schwebel Baking Co. John was a member of St. Luke Church and was a generous and unselfish man. He loved football and baseball. John was an Army veteran. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, the former Carolyn M. McIntyre, whom he married Feb. 10, 1962; a son, Kevin (Joann) Buffa of Boardman; a daughter, Cathy (Bob) Mooney of Boardman; two sisters, Charlotte Babola of Boardman and Elizabeth Kalfut of New Jersey; four grandchildren, Dana, Maria, Jenna and Nicholas; two nieces, Jodi Stewart and Kathy Johnson; and a nephew, Tom Kalfut. Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by a sister, Josephine Maceyko; and three brothers-in-law, Tom Babola, John Maceyko and Rudy Kalfut. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the Fox Funeral Home in Boardman. John’s family wishes to thank the staff at Hampton Woods and Hospice of the Valley for the compassionate care and love given to John during his brief illness. >>
