Obituary for Mary A Polito

Mary Algina 'Algese' Polito BOARDMAN – Prayers will be held Monday at 9:30 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at the Holy Family Church for Mary Algina “Algese” Polito, 83, who passed away Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Health Center after a long illness, with her daughters by her side. Mary was born Aug. 7, 1926, on the Eastside of Youngstown, the daughter of Joseph and Carmella (Fiore) Esposito. She was a 1945 graduate of East High School. She worked in administration for Strouss Department Store. She was a charter member of the Holy Family Church and participated in all parish organizations until her illness. She was a member of the Ladies Golf Association at Fonderlac Country Club and was an avid golfer. She loved entertaining and cooking for her family and friends. Her husband, Nick Polito, whom she married Oct. 2, 1948, died March 24, 2008. She leaves two daughters, Angelica (Michael) Horaitis of Wilton, Conn., and Nicolette (Jeff) Manuel of Boardman; two brothers, Dr. Richard (Carolyn) Esposito of Williamsburg, Va., and Mero (Jean) Bernard of Murphy, N.C.; three grandchildren, Ariana Horaitis, and Haley and Marisa Manuel; her aunt, Pat Valleeriani; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother, Marietta Valleriani-Bernard Esposito; six brothers, Edward, Edmund, Mario, Michael, Clarence “Cal” and Alvin “Bunny” Esposito. Family and friends may call Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. and Monday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home. The family would like to thank her loyal and loving caregivers who were with her through her illness over the past years, Sharon, Beverly, Valerie, Jane, Chrissy, Chris, Lyn, Debbie and Meghan. Material tributes may take the form of donations for Masses or to the Girls Athletic Program at Cardinal Mooney High School.
