Obituary for Bernard Goings

Bernard Brown Goings BOARDMAN – Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Good Hope Lutheran Church in Boardman for Bernard Brown Goings, 91. He passed away at his home on Tuesday. Mr. Goings was born Oct. 28, 1918 in Mt. Hermon, La., a son of Preston and Ruby Schilling Goings. He had attended Louisiana State University and had worked at United Engineering in New Castle, which became Mesta Machine. He retired as an estimator in 1992. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in World War II. His wife, the former Jean Helen Seckler, whom he married July 1, 1944, died Dec. 23, 2005. Surviving him is a son and daughter-in-law, Philip and Beverly Goings of Petersburg; and a grandson, Philip N. (Rebecca) Goings. Preceding him in death besides his wife and parents is a son, Kenneth; and a sister, Frip Bell. Friends may call Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for contributions to be made to the Church Memorial Fund, Good Hope Lutheran Church, 98 Homestead, Boardman, OH 44512.
