Obituary for BARBARA L BOTCH

Barbara Louise Botch, 77, died July 10, 2017 in her Muhlenberg Township residence. She was the wife of Richard L. Botch, who she married June 6, 1959. They resided in San Jose, Calif. from 1961-1966.

Born in Albany Township on September 1, 1939, she was a daughter of the late Paul W. and Rachel H. (Kistler) Smith.

She was a 1957 graduate of Muhlenberg High School, where she was also the past treasurer of the reunion committee.

For almost 20 years, Barbara and her husband were the owners/operators of Chicken Supreme, West Reading, through the mid 1980s and have owned the Sinking Spring Laundromat since 1975.

She was also employed as a secretary with the Beryllium Corporation, Muhlenberg Township and as a bank teller with Meridian Bank, Temple for a number of years. Barbara was a court appointed special advocate (CASA) for Berks County Children and Youth.

She was a member of the Muhlenberg Community

Chorus and the Zeswitz Accordion Band.

Barbara enjoyed attending all of her grandchildren's events, was an avid Philadelphia sports fan and loved playing bridge with her friends.

She is also survived by four children: D. Michael, husband of Marta (Mulligan) Botch of Shillington; Donald J., husband of Jacqueline L. (Smith) Botch of Muhlenberg Township; Douglas A., husband of Ann Marie (Cucinotta) Botch of Muhlenberg Township; and Mark A. Botch, husband of Greg C. Rosenblatt of Melrose, Mass.

Other survivors include a sister, Virginia (Smith), wife of Stanley Snyder of Temple; and several nieces and nephews.

Barbara was affectionately known as "Mom Mom" to her 9 grandchildren: Ryan J. Botch, Kevin A. Botch, Bradley J. Botch, David R. Botch, Madison A. Botch, Mary R. Botch, Joseph S. Rosenblatt, Veronica N. Botch and Jarred B. Rosenblatt; and one great-granddaughter, Paige Louise Botch.

Mass of Christian of Burial will be celebrated Friday, July 14th at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church, 3125 Kutztown Road, Hyde Park. Viewings will be held Thursday from 6:30-8:00 p.m. in Stitzel Family Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale and Friday morning from 8:45 a.m.-9:45 a.m. in the Church. Entombment will be in Gethsemane Mausoleum, Muhlenberg Township.
