Obituary for LEON S. LESHOCK

Leon S. Leshock Leon S. Leshock, 92, of Spring Twp., passed away on January 22, 2021 at Reading Hospital. He was born and raised in McAdoo, PA in 1928 to Stanley and Esther (Velgot) Leshock. A 1946 graduate of McAdoo High School, Leon served in the U.S. Army Signal Corp, 97th Signal Battalion, as a radio operator stationed at Böblingen, Germany. While overseas, his family relocated from McAdoo to Berks County. Upon Leon’s return in 1953, he served in the Army Reserves for 5 years. Leon married the late Evelyn M. Stern of Reading, PA in 1956; they enjoyed 63 years of marriage and raised 5 children. In 1958, Leon was hired by Western Electric Reading Works where he advanced in accounting and forecasting during his 30-year career. Attending night classes while working and raising a family, he graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School in 1964. Leon could often be found hitting the links of local golf courses with his brother, Stan and friends. As avid bowlers, he and Evelyn belonged to area leagues and were often top scorers. Leon also enjoyed vacationing in Cape May, NJ with the family. Survivors include his children: Catherine A. Hartley, wife of David of Moorestown, NJ, Christina M. Beerman, wife of Robert of Cambridge, MA, Cynthia L. Miller, wife of Ronald of Birdsboro, Mark S. Leshock of Exeter Twp., and Carolyn M. Leshock of Spring Twp. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ignatius Loyola Church, 2810 St Albans Dr, Sinking Spring, PA, on Friday, January 29, 2021 at 11:00AM. The family will receive friends and relatives at Bean Funeral Home, 3825 Penn Ave., Sinking Spring, on Friday from 9-10:15AM. Entombment will follow the Mass at Gethsemane Cemetery & Mausoleum.
