Obituary for FRANCES M. CHARNIGO

Frances M. (Jacisin) Charnigo, 93, passed away peacefully on August 31 at Phoebe Berks. Born in Reading on January 6, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Joseph J. and Anna E. (Koval) Jacisin. She was a 1948 graduate of Reading Catholic High School. Frances was employed by Berks County Trust and in later years at John Wanamaker department store at the Berkshire Mall. She was a lifelong member of St. Cyril & Methodius Roman Catholic Church. Over the years Frances participated in various parish faith formation programs and was active in the Rosary Society, the Holy Family Guild, of which she was a former secretary and the Soldality of the Blessed Virgin Mary, of which she was a former president. She was also a Eucharistic Minister at Reading Hospital. She is survived by her children, Robert J., husband of Jodi L. (Kiefer) Charnigo and Carol (Charnigo) Allocco and her husband Stephen A. Allocco; and by her grandchildren, Aubri K. Charnigo, Brianne T. Charnigo, Alexandra M. Charnigo, Jonathan R. Charnigo, Anna E. Allocco, Sara M. Allocco and Emily C. Allocco; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of almost 40 years, Joseph E. Charnigo and by her sister, Anna H. (Jacisin) Borst and brother, Joseph M. Jacisin. Frances was a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved to cook, read, and dance the polka. She enjoyed traveling throughout Europe on several trips with her husband. Frances loved her family deeply and was a selfless, compassionate woman. The family wishes to thank and acknowledge the excellent and loving care provided by Phoebe Berks where she was a resident since 2014 and the compassionate comforting hospice services provided by ProMedica. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 7th at 11:30 AM in St. Ignatius Roman Catholic Church, 2600 St. Albans Dr., Reading, PA 19609. Friends may pay their condolences on Wednesday from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the church. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery.
