Obituary for Shirley Childs Hibbard
Shirley Elizabeth Childs Hibbard, age 88, wife of 63 years to LeRoy A. Hibbard, died April 12, 2011 at Griffin Hospital, Derby. Born in Seymour on February 26, 1923 to the late Harold Childs and Elsie Derbyshire Childs, she was a lifelong resident of Seymour. Mrs. Hibbard retired in 1992 after more than 25 years as a secretary in the Seymour School System. She was a member of the Great Hill United Methodist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, planning theme parties and traveling with her husband. They enjoyed several cruises and six trips to their favorite destination, Hawaii. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter Priscilla Altorelli & her husband Andrew of Seymour, two sons, John Hibbard & his wife Sue of Sherman and the Reverend Paul Hibbard and his wife Diane of Watertown and son-in-law Louis Moraniec & his wife Linda of Prospect. She is also survived by her six granddaughters, Christina Cleri & her husband Richard, Amanda Moraniec, Rebecca Hibbard, Jamie Moraniec, Linsey Hunt & Bethany Hunt. She was predeceased by a son Gary David Hibbard and a daughter Claudia Hibbard Moraniec. A Memorial Service and celebration of the life of Shirley Hibbard will be held on Sunday April 17 at 3:00 p.m. at The Great Hill United Methodist Church, 225 Great Hill Rd. Seymour, CT. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made The Great Hill United Methodist Church or The Seymour Volunteer Ambulance Association.
