Obituary for Helen L. Davis

Helen L. Davis, 83, of 117 W. Arch St., Fleetwood, died Sunday at 5:40 p.m. in the residence of a daughter, Sandra (Davis) Manbeck of 10 Fort Henry Road, Bethel Township. Her husband, Luther T. Davis, died June 5,1981.

Born in Maidencreek township, she was a daughter of the late Sylvester and Minnie (Christ) Moyer. Davis and her husband operated a dairy farm in Richmond Township for 34 years, retiring in 1981. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Kutztown. A 60 year member of Fleetwood Grange 1839, Davis was named Granger of the Year in 1979. Davis and her husband were selected the outstanding farm family in 1967 by the Reading Fair Association.

She is also survived by another daughter, Ruth (Davis) Heffner, Oley; and six sons: Ray T., Leesport; Larry L. and Luther A., both of Kutztown; Daniel T., Robesonia; Arlan D., Bernville; and Allen A., Fleetwood.
Other survivors include two brothers, Howard Moyer, Reading, and Lee Moyer, Fleetwood; and three sisters: Pauline (Moyer) Lorah, Blandon; Edna (Moyer) Hess, Allentown and Minnie (Moyer) Schlegel; Fleetwood. There are also 23 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, LeRoy L. Davis, and a daughter, Carolyn (Davis) Weida.
Services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in St. John's Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery, Kutztown. Walter R. Christ Funeral Home Inc., Laureldale, is in charge of arrangements.
