Obituary for Betty J. Dietrich

Betty J. (Herber) Dietrich, 93, formerly of Kutztown, died Wednesday, May 24, 2023, in Fellowship Community, Whitehall, where she was a resident two years. Betty was the widow of Ralph E. Dietrich, who died February 8, 2006. Born in Fleetwood, Betty was a daughter of the late Jonathan D. and Florence R. (Heffner) Herber. Betty was a member of Zion's Union Church, Maxatawny, where she served as Sexton for 26 years until her retirement in 2006. She was also a Sunday School teacher, Choir member, and Senior Group member for many years.

Betty is survived by a son, David W., husband of Diane S. (Moyer) Herber, Kutztown; a daughter, Donna L. (Dietrich), widow of Edward R. Van de Car, Kutztown. There are four Grandchildren: Tamara S. (Herber), wife of Gregory Marushak; Amanda S. (Herber), wife of Terry Essig; Jennaver L. (Adams), wife of Theodore S. Scaffidi; and Jamie L. (Adams), husband of Erica Schappell; eight great grandchildren: Abigail (Marushak), wife of Darrin Frantz; John Marushak; Owen Shorette; Jonah Shorette;  Archer R. Scaffidi; Arden A. Scaffidi; Eric Essig and Ashley Essig; and a great-great granddaughter, Aurora Grace Frantz.

A Funeral Service to Celebrate and Honor Betty's life will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. in Zion's Union Church, 329 Church Road, Kutztown, with Vicar Jeremiah T. Heydt, officiating. Interment in Zion Maxatawny Union Cemetery. Relatives and Friends are invited to a viewing on Saturday, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the church.
