Obituary for ROBERT EUGENE SULLIVAN

Robert Eugene Sullivan was born December 26, 1931 in Boone, Iowa to Charles and Leah (Newcomb) Sullivan. He passed away at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines on Saturday, May 13, 2023.

Robert graduated from Des Moines Tech High School in 1950, Grandview University in 1973 and then from Drake University in 1981.

He worked as an electronic technician for Northwestern Bell/US West for many years, retiring in 1989. Robert was a member of the Iowa National Guard.

Robert was a member of Grand View Lutheran Church and a member of Auburn-Union Park Masonic Lodge #592.

Robert is survived by his daughters, Patty (Darrel) Cox and Linda (Glen) Johnson; grandchildren, Joel (Joanna) Cox, Kelly (Ben) Gannon, Derek Johnson, and Scott Johnson; 3 great-grandchildren, Treston, Braelyn, and Raegan; sisters, Marci Runyon, Corrine Day and Bonnie Bowen; as well as other family and beloved friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene in 2016; parents; infant brother, Billy Ray Sullivan and sister, Victoria Ouellett.

Memorial services at 2:00 p.m., on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines. A committal service will be held at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery, 1 NE 60th Ave., Des Moines.
