Obituary for David A. George

David A. George, 62, of Longswamp Township, died Monday, May 15, 2023, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.  He was the husband of Lois A. Swales-George.  They were married May 22, 1996.  Born in Allentown, David was a son of the late Robert A. and Anna E. (Manmiller) George.

He was employed for 4 years by Eastern Time, Inc., Allentown, as a Material Handler; prior, he was employed in a similar capacity by ADT, Allentown, for over 18 years.

David was a former member of Lehigh Lodge, F.&A.M. #326, Trexlertown.  He was also a member of Nimrod Fish & Game Association, Alburtis, Alburtis Rod & Gun Club, Alburtis. 

David was an active member of Alburtis Fire Company No. 1, Alburtis, since 1978.  He was an engineer, member of the forestry crew, and served as president for 25 years.  He retired as an active firefighter in 2007, but continued to serve administratively until 2021.

In addition to his wife of 26 years, Lois, David is survived by a son, Robert A., husband of Kimberly M. (Seaman) George, Alburtis; daughter, Hilary A. (George) wife of Michael R. Butz, Alburtis.  Other survivors include grandchildren: Macen R. George, Jaxon T. George and Kaylee A. Butz. There is a brother, Rickey W., husband of Vickie L. (Harrison) George, Mertztown; and two sisters: Bonita L. (George), widow of James Lesher, Topton; and Eileen L. (George), wife of Donald C. Savidge, Alburtis; also his four-legged companions, Petey and Stymie.

A funeral service to celebrate David's life will be held on Friday, May 19, 2023, at 8:00 p.m. in Ludwick Funeral Homes and Cremation Care, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown.   A public viewing will be held on Friday from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.  Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
