Obituary for Lucille J. Geist

Lucille J. (Meck) Geist, 81, of Breinigsville, formerly of, Topton, and Florida, died Friday, March 17, 2023, in her residence surrounded by her family.  She was born February 13, 1942, in Longswamp Township.  She is the wife of Ernest E. Geist.  They were married February 20, 1960.  Born in Longswamp Township, Lucy was a daughter of the late Paul E., Sr., and Elsie V. (Eck) Meck. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Topton. 

She was a graduate of Brandywine Heights Area High School, Topton, Class of 1959.  

She was employed as the PrePlanning Insurance Advisor at Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., in Kutztown and Topton for 10 years, retiring in 2006.  Prior to that she was retired from East Penn Bank, Emmaus, PA, First National Bank of Allentown, and other banks through mergers.  

Lucy performed with the former Willis Meyers Country Band from the age of 3 to 9 years old.  After that she continued to perform with her own country band at parks, carnivals and also appeared on several TV shows in Philadelphia and New York City, as well as the former Steel Pier in Atlantic City until the age of 18. She was instrumental in the founding, organization and was also a member of the Brandywine High School Minstrel in the 1980's. 

In addition to her husband of 63 years, Ernest E. Geist, Lucy is survived by a daughter Lisa A. (Geist) Yob, fiancé of Michael E. Richburg, Mertztown; and a son Troy K. Geist, Winterhaven, FL.  Other survivors include grandchildren: Amanda L. (Yob) Ryan, fiancé of Christopher White; Dr. Janelle R. (Geist), wife of Alex Hauserman; Dr. Heather L. Geist, fiancé of Alex Murphy; Cortney J. Geist; Sydney A. Geist; Great Grandchildren: Kade C. White; Sienna L. Hauserman; Step Granddaughter: Kristen Derrick, wife of Michael Wissler; Step Great-Grandson: David Hinson.  There are also two sisters: Joyce V. (Meck), widow of Linford Bastian, Florida; and Annabelle F. (Meck) widow of Anthony Zibura, Topton.  In addition to her parents, Lucy was predeceased by brothers: Willard D. Meck, Paul E. Meck, and Carl Meck

A Funeral Service to Honor and Celebrate Lucy's life will be held on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. from Ludwick Funeral Homes and Cremation Care, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, with The Reverend Arthur L. Hahn, officiating.  Interment in Topton Union Cemetery, Topton.  Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing on Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
