Obituary for EDITH MARILYN FREEMAN

Edith passed away on February 16, 2023. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 3, 2023 at Amazing Grace Ministries starting at 1pm. A visitation will be held the day prior from 12 - 8pm at the Henderson's Chapel. 

Edith Marilyn Freeman of South Carolina, was born on August 29th, in 1943 to Oliver Scott and Julia Bly Scott. Edith received her secondary education in South Carolina and graduated from Lang High School. Edith then obtained post-secondary education in Des Moines, Iowa through Des Moines Area Community College’s Urban Campus.

Throughout Edith’s professional accomplishments, she had many roles within the community. She worked professionally amongst doctors homes, Mercy One within the respite care unit. She worked within the agricultural industry and contributed to day work. Edith also worked professionally as a caterer and in childcare.

Edith enjoyed simple pleasures of life. In her time, she would sew and knit. She enjoyed making blankets. Edith also made baskets by hand for roadside stands. When she was not found being crafty, she would spend time travelling. She enjoyed visiting South Carolina. Edith was blessed with grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom which she enjoyed spending time with.

Edith Marilyn Freeman passed on February 16th, 2023. She preceded in death by parents, Oliver and Julia Bly Scott; sister, Ida Scott; son, Anthony Freeman; grandson, Damien Freeman, Amanda Stewart and Abraham Scott.

Left to cherish her in loving memory are her sons, Kelvin (Brenda) Freeman and John (Pamela) Freeman; siblings, William Scott, and Leola Scott; beautiful grandchildren, Anthony Cross, Shane Cross, Blake Cross, Alexis Cross, Montray Little, Kelvin Freeman Jr., Demaro Freeman, Tarnisha Freeman, Damien Freeman, Jazrae Freeman, Alexandra Momaney, Laeveontae Freeman, Errol Sutton, Shyquavuis Dodds, John Freeman V, Aaliyah Freeman, Austin Freeman and 27 beautiful great-grandchildren.
