Obituary for Jacob Taylor Fairchild

Jacob "Jake" "Jakey" Taylor Fairchild, 26, of Fleetwood (Rockland Township), passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 26, 2023 at his residence. He was the husband-to-be of Amanda J. Remick, whom he became engaged on March 9, 2021. 

Born in Bethlehem, Jake was a son of Stephen K. and Carol J. (Sell) Fairchild of Kutztown. Jake was a 2015 graduate of Kutztown Area High School where he was a member of the soccer and track and field teams, and Lehigh Career and Technical Institute, Schnecksville, where he received his degree in Diesel Mechanics. Jake also earned his Commercial Driver's License.

He was employed as a Diesel Mechanic by Pottle's Transportation, LLC, Kutztown for three years. Prior to that, he worked for Kenworth. Jake was a faithful Christian and was a member of Christ (Mertz) Lutheran Church, Dryville, as well as the Lenhartsville Rod and Gun Club. In his younger years, Jake was a member of Scout Troop 101 and later Troop 132, earning the rank of Life Scout. He was an avid football fan and rooted for the Cincinnati Bengals.  

Jake enjoyed everything about the outdoors and wildlife and had the utmost respect for animals. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and trapper. He also enjoyed Snowsports including snowmobiling and skiing and most recently, he was involved with dirt track racing at Grandview Speedway. Jake was the most kindhearted, determined and loving person who always wanted to do "the right thing." 

In addition to his fiancé, Amanda, and parents, Steve and Carol; Jake is survived by his two brothers, Josh S. Fairchild and twin-brother, Justin M. Fairchild, both of Lenhartsville; paternal grandparents, Kenneth E. and Carole L. (Hough) Fairchild, Whitehall; maternal grandfather, Larry L. Sell, Danielsville; his and Amanda's four-legged companions, Sierra and Koda; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his maternal grandmother, Carol M. (Rudolph) Sell. 

A memorial service to celebrate and honor Jake's life will be held on Thursday, March 2, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in Christ (Mertz) Lutheran Church, 16 Fleetwood Road, Fleetwood (Dryville), with The Reverend Martin Milne officiating. Doors will open at 10:30 a.m. There will be no calling hours or luncheon to follow the service.
