Obituary for Bruce D Long

Bruce D. Long, 80, of formerly of Schuylkill Haven passed away Saturday, February 18th, at Orwigsburg Center after a long illness.

Bruce was born in Schuylkill Haven, PA on October 24, 1942, a son of the late Ethel (Bittler) and Calvin J. Long.

He was the widower of Constance Marie (Bixler) Long who died February 28, 2021, preceded in death by a brother Richard Long and a sister Jean Huntzinger

Bruce graduated from Blue Mountain High School Class of 1961. Upon graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy. He served aboard the USS Georgetown.

Completing his tour of duty he attended Industrial Management of Reading. Studying Mechanical Drafting. He worked as a contractor draftsman through FW Armitage Inc and United Technical Associates Inc.

Bruce enjoyed the outdoors. He was involved with the Boy Scouts in Auburn. He was an avid hiker having hiked the entire Appalachian trail in Pennsylvania. He also enjoyed playing golf a various courses. Upon retiring he voluntered his time to the Senior Aid program in Schuylkill Haven and Pottsville preparing and packaging food for Meals on Wheels.

He is also survived by Sisiter in law Sandra Long Schuylkill Haven, three nephews Dave Long, Mitchel Huntzinger, James Tidwell and a niece Tayna Ehrenfried

He was preceded in death by his wife Constance Marie (Bixler) Long, a brother Richard Long and a sister Jean Huntzinger

Graveside memorial services will be held at 10:30 Wednesday March 1, with Rev. James Fidler Officiating at Schuylkill Memorial Park Schuylkill Haven, PA.
