Obituary for Ruth N. Lawley

Ruth N. Lawley (nee Nichols), age 101, a longtime resident of Springfield, passed away
on January 23, 2023.

Ruth was born in Hot Springs, Arkansas to the late Oce and Nora (Green) Nichols. After
graduating from business school, she served as a secretary for the Pentagon during
World War ll. Ruth was a longtime member of Covenant United Methodist Church in Springfield
where she sang with the Choir and was an active member of their Women’s Circle. Also, at
Covenant, she served as a Sunday school teacher and volunteered for special events. Ruth was a volunteer for Meals On Wheels, a drug rehab hotline and was a Cub Scout den mother.

Her passion was raising her three children. She enjoyed gardening and needlework. Ruth was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed by all her family and friends.
Predeceased by her husband, Marsden Lawley Jr.; brother, William Nichols.
Survived by her children, Karen Ruth Lawley, Marsden Lawley lll and Robert Everett
Lawley; grandson, Elick Marsden Coval; son-in-law Steven A. Coval and daughter-in-law Melanie A. Maseda. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Monday, January 30th 10:00 am at Covenant United Methodist Church at 212
W.Springfield Road Springfield.  Service: Monday, January 30th 11:00 am at Covenant United Methodist Church

Interment: Arlington Cemetery, Drexel Hill, PA
