Obituary for Marie Alma Roy
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 16, 2023 at 1:00 PM in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette for Marie Alma Roy, age 95, who passed away on January 13, 2023 at Maison de Lafayette. The family will receive guests at Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN location on Monday from 8:30 AM until the time of service with a recitation of the Rosary at 11:00 AM in the funeral home.
Interment will be in Holy Mary Mother of God Cemetery in Lafayette.
Reverend Gil Dutel will officiate the services.
Survivors include her sons, Charles Roy and his wife, Christine and James "Jim" Roy Elia; her daughter-in-law, Susie Cormier Roy; her grandchildren, Sarah Harbison (Medlock), Bryan Roy (Faith), Justin Roy (Allison), Brennan Roy (Victoria) and Christian Roy (fiancée Rachel Charrier); and her great grandchildren, August, Ella, Amalie, Emersyn, Mckenzie, Cohen and baby Lennox due in March.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Pierre Andrus Roy; her son, Ronald "Ronnie" Roy; her parents, Lucius and Ida Allemond Guidry; her brother, Claude Guidry; and her sister, Annie Allemond.
Alma was a 1944 graduate of Judice High School. She and her late husband owned and operated Andrus Roy Used Cars and Mechanic in Scott. She was a loving homemaker who had nothing but admiration for her family. She was a member of St. Jules Ladies Altar Society and was a devout Catholic who prayed the rosary daily. Alma will be remembered for her selflessness who lived for others.
Pallbearers will be Bryan Roy, Justin Roy, Brennan Roy, Christian Roy, Medlock Harbison, and Nicholas Allemond.
