Obituary for Laura Mae Cormier
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial in Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Scott for Laura Mae Cormier, age 87, who passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2023, at her residence in Scott.
Interment will be held in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.
Reverend Howard Blessing will officiate at the services. Readers of Sacred Scripture will be Genee’ Derise and Jennifer Artigue, Giftbearer will be Simone Stoute.
Survivors include her two daughters, Lynn Cormier Lemaire, and Carolyn Cormier Stoute and her husband, Murphy, all of Scott; two grandsons; and four great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Carol Guidry, and Lula Mae Cormier Veronie; a brother-in-law, Donald Cormier, and his wife Vickie.
Preceded in death by her husband, Mattrice “Matt” Cormier; her son, Ronald Cormier; son-in-law, Terry Lemaire; her parents, Mason Guidry and Laura Guidry; one brother, Kermit “Don” Guidry.
Laura Mae Cormier was a native of Lafayette and a resident of Scott. She was a devout catholic and longtime parishioner of St. Jules Catholic Church in Lafayette; she had a strong faith and devotion to our Holy Mother and contributed to many Catholic organizations. Laura enjoyed camping with her husband, Matt, her canine companions, especially Tee Tonaire and Puff, and drinking coffee.
Pallbearers will be Murphy Stoute, Timothy Stoute, Cody Stoute, Gabe Stoute, Earl Hebert, and Mike Thibodeaux.
A Rosary will be recited, led by Mr. Voorhies Short on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at 6:00 pm in Martin & Castille's SCOTT Location.
The family requests that visitation be observed on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm and will continue on Wednesday morning from 8:00 am until time of services.
