Obituary for Mrs. Angela Torres

Angela Torres, age 86, of Lorain passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at her home on the anniversary of her and husband's 70th wedding anniversary.

She was born on May 19, 1936 in Ponce, Puerto Rico to Miguel and Tomasa (nee Hernandez) Mercado.

She worked for many years as Supervisor of the laundry department at St. Joseph Hospital, in Lorain and as a cashier supervisor at Walmart in Pompano Beach, Florida. Angela enjoyed going to casinos, playing dominos and bingo, and enjoyed spending time at El Centro. She will be remembered as a strong, hard-working, and true friend to all that knew her. She absolutely loved her children and grandchildren as they were her life.

She is survived by her children, Angie (Doug) Brown, Peter Torres, Maritza (Kevin) Torres-Britten, and Gilberto (Adriana) Rodriguez; 12 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great- grandchild; siblings, Evelyn (Victor) Vadi, Sarah (Jay Brown) Mercado, and Miguel (Sonia) Mercado; and her favorite companion, Chico.

Angela was preceded in death by her husband, Juan Torres Serrano, in 2006; and her son, Johnny Torres, in 2008.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Ave. Lorain, Ohio. Rev. Father William Thaden, Pastor, will officiate.

Interment will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp.
