Obituary for Lennia A. Mertz

Lennia A. (Angstadt) Mertz, 87, of Weisenberg Township, Lehigh County, died peacefully on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 in her daughter's residence, surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of Charles E. Mertz, Sr., who died on January 10, 2018, and whom she married on May 30 1953.  

Born in Maxatawny Township, Lennia was a daughter of the late Kuney E. and Arline D. (Trexler) Angstadt.  Lennia was a member of Zion's Union Church, Maxatawny.

Lennia enjoyed to crochet, crafting, and tending her garden.  Lennia and her late husband, Charles, were members of The Old Time Plow Boys Club, Kutztown.

Lennia is survived by her two children, Charles E. Mertz, Jr., and Cynthia A. (Mertz), wife of Earl A. Bower, Jr., both of Kutztown; two grandsons, Jesse E,. husband of Laura L. (Wessner) Christman; and Jordan E. Christman; and two great-granddaughters, Abigail L. and Hannah J. Christman. Other survivors include a sister, Laila A. (Angstadt) widow of Charles J. Loch, Weisenberg Township.  Along with her husband and parents, Lennia was predeceased by a granddaughter, Desiree L. Christman; and a brother Ernest L. Angstadt.

A funeral service to celebrate and honor Lennia's's life will be held on Monday, November 7, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in Zion's Union Church, 329 Church Road, Kutztown, with Vicar Jeremiah T. Heydt, officiating.  Interment will follow in Zion Maxatawny Union Cemetery, Kutztown. Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing on Monday morning from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. in the church.
