Obituary for Henry Robert Hennessy

 

Henry R. “Harry” Hennessy, 84, of Milmont Park, PA passed away on September 24, 2022 in Dresher, PA.

Harry was born in Philadelphia, PA, on September 18, 1938, to the late Raymond Hennessy, Sr. and Laura Shaw (nee Bales). Harry is survived by his wife, Lillian Hennessy (nee Fury) formerly of Milmont Park, PA, daughter Judy (Dave), his sisters Laura O’Gara and Elaine Taziole. He was preceded in death by his brother Raymond Hennessy, Jr. and sister Betty Drake.

From high school, Harry enlisted in the United States Air Force, and worked as a mechanic. After being honorably discharged, he worked as a serviceman for Philadelphia Gas Works until a stroke in 1991 forced him into retirement. In retirement, Harry volunteered for over 25 years at Taylor Hospital in Ridley Park on the rehab floor where he helped other patients recover from strokes and falls.

Harry was an avid model train enthusiast, and had an impressive N scale display. He also enjoyed woodworking and would make rocking horses for anyone he knew that was having a baby.

He enjoyed frequenting the local restaurants for breakfast and lunch with his wife. All are welcome to greet the family at Arlington Cemetery Chapel, 2900 State Road, Drexel Hill, PA from 10AM-11AM on Sept. 30, 2022 with a service following.

Interment will follow in the adjoining cemetery.
