Obituary for Ms. Rebecca Lee Sassaman

Rebecca Lee "Becky" Sassaman, 46, beloved daughter of Richard and Sally Sassaman, passed away suddenly on September 9, 2022 in her Fair Lawn, New Jersey residence.

 

Born in Reading, PA, and raised in Douglassville, Rebecca was a 1993 graduate of Daniel Boone High School, Birdsboro. She continued her education at Wagner College, Staten Island, NY, where she dual majored and received bachelor's degrees in both Psychology and Biology in 1997. She then attended Fairleigh Dickinson University, Teaneck, NJ, where she received a master's degree in Clinical Psychology and finally John Jay College of Criminal Justice, New York, NY, where she received a master's degree in Forensic Psychology. Rebecca also completed the School Psychology Certification program. Since 1997, Rebecca has worked in the mental health field, last working as a Clinical Psychologist.

 

Becky had a love for photography and was very talented at taking great photographs. She also loved animals, horseback riding and taking her dog for walks.

 

Rebecca is survived by her daughter, Abigail J. Roman, Hasbrouck Heights, NJ; parents, Richard L. and Sally R. (Kalbach) Sassaman, Douglassville; brother, The Reverend Dr. Jeremiah A. Sassaman, and his wife Beth, of Mertztown, PA, and many other extended family members.

 

A memorial service to celebrate and honor Rebecca's life will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. in Saint Paul's Lutheran Church, 50 Luther Drive, Mertztown, PA, with her brother, The Rev. Dr. Jeremiah A. Sassaman officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation from 1:30 - 2:00 p.m. in the church. Burial will be private.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests contributions be made in Rebecca's memory to St. Paul' Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 117, Mertztown, PA 19539 or Shady Hollow Assisted Riding, 959 E. Main Street, Birdsboro, PA 19508.
