Obituary for Mrs. Beryl Elizabeth Carl

Beryl Elizabeth (Thomas) Carl, 93, formerly of Kutztown, passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2022 in The Lutheran Home at Topton. Born December 15, 1928, in Port Talbot, Wales, UK, daughter of the late Winston and Edith Lillian Thomas. Beryl received her formal education in food service in the UK where she was once privileged to serve then Princess Elizabeth. After moving to the United States Beryl was employed at Western Electric in Laureldale, PA and was later the Director of Food Services for many years at The Kutztown Area School District until her retirement in 1988. She attended Zion Moselem Lutheran Church, Kutztown (Richmond Township). Beryl was an avid gardener and was also an animal lover and caregiver; not only to the animals but also very generous and kind to people who were in need as well.

 

Beryl is survived by her stepson, Jeffrey E. (Frances) Carl, of Wyoming, NY; two grandsons, Jack Reese Carl and Harrison I. Carl of Pound Ridge, NY; and a sister, Pamela Thomas of England.

 

Along with her parents, Beryl is predeceased by her husband John (Jack) in October 1996, son John Rodney Carl on April 23, 2022; stepdaughter, Dianne E. (Carl) Ziegler in September 2014; and brothers, Gerald and Graham Thomas.

 

A funeral service to celebrate and honor Beryl's life will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at 11:00 AM in Ludwick Funeral Homes and Cremation Care, 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, PA with The Reverend Leon C. Moll officiating. Burial will follow in Zion Moselem Church Cemetery, 340 Moselem Church Road, Kutztown. Calling and visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the funeral home.

 

The family requests contributions be made in Beryl's memory to Zion Moselem Lutheran Church, 340 Moselem Church Road, Kutztown, PA 19530 or The Animal Rescue League of Berks County, 58 Kennel Road, Birdsboro, PA 19508.
