Obituary for Mrs. Virginia M. Hellwig

Virginia M. Hellwig, 79, of Lower Macungie Township, died Saturday, June 18, 2022, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.  Born in Allentown, Virginia was a daughter of the late George and Anna Marie (Swartzentruber) Hellwig.  She was of the Lutheran faith.

Virginia was a graduate of Brandywine Heights Area School District, Class of 1960. She received a certificate in the Culinary Arts from Community College, Baltimore, Maryland. She was employed as a machine operator for Black & Decker, at their Maryland plant for 19 years.  She also worked as a clerk and manager for Dollar Tree Stores, and retired from Daytimers.

Virginia was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8282, Breinigsville.  She also was an avid reader and enjoyed doing word and jigsaw puzzles.

Virginia is survived by a brother, William P., husband of Coleen M. (Whitney) Hellwig, Millsboro, DE; and a sister-in-law Delores A. "Tootie" A. (Miller), wife of predeceased brother, David G. Hellwig, Mertztown.  Other survivors include nieces and nephews: Connie L. (Hellwig), wife of Larry Falatko; Susan J. (Hellwig), wife of Deron Stiff; Michael T., husband of Talea (Ream) Hellwig; Marc L. Hellwig; and Kimberly A. Hellwig. There are great nieces and a great nephew: Skylar M. Strause; Jade L. Strause; Abigail D. Hellwig and Logan M. Hellwig.  Virginia is survived by her four-legged companion, Chipper. In addition to her brother, David and parents, Virginia was predeceased by a son, Scott B. Adams, in infancy.

A funeral service to celebrate and honor Virginia's life will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2022, at 10:30, from Ludwick Funeral Homes and Cremation Care, Inc., 25 East Weis Street, Topton, with The Reverend Arthur L. Hahn, officiating.  Interment in Longswamp Union Cemetery.  Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing on Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.

It was Virginia's wish that contributions, be considered to the Animal Rescue League of Berks County, 58 Kennel Road, Birdsboro, PA  19508.
