Obituary for Sidney Archie Ducharme II
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Sidney Archie Ducharme, II on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at 11:00 AM in St. Mary, Mother of the Church in Lafayette. Sidney was 71 when he died on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.
The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's SOUTHSIDE location on Saturday, June 11, 2022 from 9:00 AM until the time of the service at 11:00 AM.
Interment will be in Holy Mary, Mother of God Cemetery in Lafayette.
Reverend Cedric Sonnier, Pastor of St. Mary, Mother of the Church in Lafayette, will conduct the funeral services.
Survivors include his beloved companion of 40 years, Dixie Simon; his son, Sidney Archie Ducharme, III; his sister, Loretta Catherine Richard and her husband Bradley, and a host of cousins who worked alongside Sidney as carpenters and other trade professionals in the family construction business.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rex and Audrey Ducharme.
Sidney was a graduate of Lafayette High School and proud to serve this great nation in the United States National Guard. Some of his hobbies included making Cajun accordions, classic automobiles and their engines, and wood working of all types.
A heartfelt appreciation is extended by the Ducharme family to his caregiver JoAnn Chauvin for the selflessness and compassionate care of Sidney.
