Obituary for John Hugh Loudon Jr

John Hugh Loudon Jr, 77, of Olathe, KS, passed away on October 27th, 2021 after a courageous battle with ALS. He was born October 15th, 1944 to John H Loudon Sr, and Lorraine B (Burr) Loudon in Minneapolis, MN. John served our country for 2 years in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He was employed with General Mills as a sales rep for 30 years. On June 6th, 1970 he married Connie K. Shultz. They have resided in Olathe since August 1989. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, bingo and having the perfect lawn. He was the bingo manager at the American Legion post 153 and “retired” from the position in the end of 2019 after his ALS diagnosis.

John is survived by his loving wife Connie, daughter Michelle Giffin (Scott), grandsons Alex Giffin (fiancé Kaitlin Hurley) and Spencer Giffin (Sarah Peek). Daughter Melinda Mclain (Jeremy), grandkids P.J. Smotherman, Meleah Smotherman (Andrew Robertory), Madison Smotherman, Morgan Austin. Forever friends Dennis and Nancy Butterfield and sister, Barbara (Mike) Rist.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson Ryan Joplin. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the The ALS Association Mid-America Chapter at 6405 Metcalf Ave Suite 205, Overland Park, KS 66202.
