Obituary for Joseph LeRoy McMahon

Joseph Leroy McMahon, 74 of Olathe, Kansas passed away surrounded by nurses, family and friends at Olathe Health Hospice House. He will forever be remembered as a loving dad, grandpa, great grandpa, brother and friend to many. Joseph was born September 6th, 1947 in Fort Scott, Kansas to Bill McMahon and Mildred Luella Cress. He moved to Olathe in 1951. He attended First Assembly of God. He also attended Olathe High school. Joseph was married to Marie Howery and was blessed with a daughter Shannon Marie on January 8th, 1973. Joe enjoyed sitting outside drinking coffee and enjoying nature. He loved watching the rabbits, birds, and the family dogs. His favorite meal was chicken and hamburgers. His line of occupation was a mechanic for the Heart of America Truck Stop. Later in his life he married again to Jody Hougland and he was blessed with another daughter Shannon Lynn on September 21st, 1975. He had several occupations, once he was a parking lot attendant at KCI and he loved sharing his story about meeting president Bill Clinton during his time there. His last occupation upon retirement was a janitor at the Great Plains Mall.

Joseph was preceded in death by his father Bill McMahon, and his mother Mildred Cress Laming; His brother Billy Lee McMahon; His first wife Marie Howery, and second wife Jody Hougland. He is survived by his two daughters Shannon Marie Joy and Shannon Lynn Ratliff; one son-in-law Brian Loy; two brothers Lawrence Laming, and Robert Laming; two sisters Linda Altis, and Vickie Laming; three granddaughters Catelyn Wilson, Nicole Ratliff, and Alecia Loy; one grandson Kevan Loy, one stepson Casey Beavers; one great grandaughter Lacey Peycke; and three great grandsons Nate Peycke, Michael Beavers and Benjamin Wilson.

Graveside Memorial Service will be Saturday October 23rd at 2:00PM at Olathe Memorial Cemetery. In Lieu of Flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Abundant Life Church 12400 Antioch Rd, Overland Park, KS 66213.
