Obituary for Glenn S. Shannon

Glenn S. Shannon, 64, of Kutztown, Pa. passed away suddenly on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 in his residence. He was the husband of Judy E. (Kercher) Shannon, whom he married on August 29, 1981. This year they happily celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary.

 

Born in Orange, NJ, Glenn was a son of the late Arthur Shannon and Eleanor (Samuel) Gregory. He was a graduate of Neptune High School, Neptune Township, NJ, and attended Brookdale Community College, Lincroft, NJ. While in both high school and college, Glenn was an avid and talented soccer player. Glenn was employed as a Chef for over 30 years at Red Lobster, and proudly opened 40 of their locations. For the past 10 years, Glenn primarily worked at their Wyomissing location.

 

Glenn was a diehard Raiders fan and enjoyed watching them play every Sunday. He also enjoyed his chocolate and Pepsi. Above all, Glenn loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time at all his grandkids sporting events. His willingness to help anyone and do anything will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

 

In addition to his wife of 40 years, Judy, Glenn is survived by his two children, Christopher B., husband of Elissa (Biggs) Shannon, Macungie, and Jennifer B. (Shannon), wife of Arthur George, III, Breinigsville; five grandchildren, Aidan Shannon, Anthony George, Aubrey Shannon, Juliana George and Hailey Shannon; siblings, Wes Shannon, and his wife, Pam, Wayne Shannon, and his wife, Karin, and Diane Casner, and her husband, Mark; sister-in-law, Linda Shannon, mother-in-law, Anna Mae (DeLong) Kercher, brother and sister-in-laws, Glenn Kercher, and his wife, Tammy, and Joel Kercher, and his wife, Mandi, and their families.

 

Along with his parents, Glenn was predeceased by brothers, Arthur Shannon and Greg Shannon.

 

A memorial service to honor and celebrate Glenn's life will be held on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. in Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, with The Reverend Dr. Jeremiah A. Sassaman, Pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Mertztown, officiating. Burial will follow in Longswamp Union Cemetery, Mertztown.

 

Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation on Wednesday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
