Obituary for SANDRA MARIE CRAIG

Sandra (Sandy) Marie Craig passed away September 11, 2021 at the age of 84. Her visitation will be from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, Friday, September 17, 2021 at Grandview Park Chapel, 3211 Hubbell Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa 50317 with a Rosary at 7:00pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00am, Saturday, September 18, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 3300 Easton Blvd, Des Moines, Iowa 50317. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Sandy was born on May 28, 1937, in Des Moines to Roscoe and Roxie Craig. She graduated from Visitation grade school and St. Joseph’s Academy. She retired from US West.

Besides being a member of St. Joseph’s and its Rosary Confraternity, she belonged to Iowans for LIFE, National Right to Life, American Life League, and the Iowa Right to Life. She was also an Associate of Sisters of Charity, BVM.

Her love for her Irish heritage took her on five trips to Ireland. She also traveled to many other countries in Europe, as well as Canada, and throughout the United States.

She leaves behind her love for all her family and friends who survive her. Those members include her sister Jackie Smith, three nieces, five nephews, and many grand and great grand nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother-in-law Dick Smith, Richard and sister Marilyn McCrory, nephew’s Steve Smith, and Eric McCrory.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or a Right to Life Organization.
