Obituary for Florence Olenchuk Cegelka
CEGELKA Florence O. Cegelka, age 81 of Seymour entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at Shady Knoll Health Center. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Cegelka, Sr. She was born in Ebervale, Penn. On April 30, 1929, daughter of the late Sawa and Helen (Zavalick) Olenchuk. Florence was a communicant of St. Augustine's Church and a member of the Resurrection Choir. She worked as a cashier at the Big Y Supermarket until her retirement. She was a mentor at Anna Lopresti School for many years. Flo loved to read, do crossword puzzles, polka dance and spend time with her family. She is survived by her loving family including two sons,Joseph Cegelka, Jr. and his wife Susan of Waterbury and Richard Cegelka of Seymour with whom she resided; one daughter, Mary Ellen Jordan and her husband Dennis of Fairfield; one brother, Samuel Olenchuk of Seymour; two sisters, Mary Grass of West Haven and Joan Thorpe of Seymour; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a brother, John Olenchuk and two sisters, Alice Weymer and Jean Karyrick. Funeral services in celebration of Flo's life will be held on Friday at 9:15 a.m. in the Anthony V. Chepulis Funeral Home, 47 Washington Ave., Seymour to be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Augustine Church. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorial contributions in her honor may be made to the Parkin-son's Association or St. Augustine Church
