Obituary for Edward Zembas

Edward Zembas, 82, of Silver Creek, passed away on June 25 at Geisinger St. Luke’s Hospital.

 

Ed was husband of Elizabeth “Sis” Boran Zembas in a marriage of 60 years. He was the son of the late Edward and Anna Drusjack Zembas and was born in Middleport.

 

He was a 1956 graduate of Blythe Township High School, served in the Navy 1956-60 and was a graduate of Penn State Mechanical Trade Certification.

 

He worked as a master mechanic for Alcoa and Hasting’s Paving. Ed enjoyed hunting, fishing, wood-working, gardening and RV camping for many years with Sis.

 

Ed was active in the Ukrainian Catholic Church Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Middleport, AMVETS Post 256 and the Lone Pine Sportsman Club.

 

 

He is survived by sons, James “Tank” Zembas and wife, Michele, Joseph Zembas and wife, Margot, and daughter Jeanette Zembas. Ed is also survived by six grandchildren, Michala, Dominic, EJ, Matthew, Joshua and Abby. Ed is also survived by a sister, Geraldine Zembas Riker and husband, Robert.

 

Friends are invited from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 30, at Thomas J. Bartashus Funeral Home in New Philadelphia. A Divine Liturgy of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. at Nativity BVM Church in Middleport by the Rev. Mark Fesniak.
