Obituary for Mr. George E. Weida

George E. Weida, 89, of Kutztown, died on Wednesday, June 2, 2021, in ManorCare, Laureldale, where he was a residence since, May 11, 2021.  He was the widow of Shirley E. (Wartzenluft) Weida, who died July 18, 2007.  Born in Alsace Township, George was a son of the late Raymond J. and Caroline (Readinger) Weida.  He was a member of Saint John's Lutheran Church, Kutztown, where he service as church sexton, served on the Organ Committee, Bell Choir, and Choir.  George Honorably and Faithfully served our country as a veteran of the United States Army during the Korean War.

 

George was employed by the former Fenstermacher Hardware, Kutztown, and Fleetwood Craftsman, Fleetwood.  He also was employed as an injection molding operator by East Penn Manufacturing Company, Inc., Lyon Station, until his retirement in 1994.  George was employed by the Borough of Kutztown Police Department as a part-time patrolman and School Crossing Guard for over 40 years.

 

George is survived by three daughters: Marla S. (Weida), wife of Brian D. Gieringer, Fleetwood; Nancy E. (Weida), Eisenhower, Tennessee; Kim E. (Weida), wife of Brian D. Herber, MacAdoo, Schuylkill County; a son: Mark E., husband of Ellen A. (Kressley) Weida, Kutztown.  Other survivors include, ten grandchildren; nine great grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Shirley, and parents, George was predeceased by a daughter, Mary F. Weida on August 25, 1987; and brothers, Earl, John and sister, Marguerite.

 

A Memorial Service to Celebrate and Honor George's Life will be held privately at the convenience of the family, with his pastor, The Reverend Mary Ann Hamm, officiating. Inurnment will follow in Hope Cemetery, Kutztown. There are no public calling hours.
